Wonderful stuff. I sense the same malaise, and have written often of this problem. I believe both left and right experience it in their different ways. Both find the present dispensation intolerable, although I think it is only the dissident right that penetrates to the spiritual core of the miasma - the suffocation of the human spirit in blandness and ugliness, the constriction of freedom by the python of safety and regulation, the sacrifice of everything higher to the lower. It feels like there is little worth salvaging, nothing in this civilization to defend or fight for. The great work now is cultivating the seeds of what comes next.

The way forward will undoubtedly require that we relinquish certain comforts. With any luck, it will only be mere comforts that we have to abandon. For some, this will be a shock to the system regardless. I have to wonder that, if we commit to living minimally and with an eye on what's most important -- spiritual development, community renewal, and personal health -- then we can weather the storm at least individually and hopefully that will reverberate to wider society... what remains of it.
