A classical liberal friend of mine told me that he met Marcuse in the 70s and discussed the Kronstadt Rebellion with him. Marcuse told him that the Bolsheviks were justified in putting down the Kronstadt sailors and that after the revolution, “We will kill you too!”. He wasn’t sure if Marcuse was just being cheeky but it shocked him.
