Sexual partner number and distribution over time affect long-term partner evaluation: Evidence from 11 countries across 5 continents. Andrew Thomas and colleagues examine how number of past sexual partners relates to an individual’s desirability as a mate. Analysing data from 12 countries, they find that individuals with more past sexual partners are rated as less desirable, regardless of gender.

Sports Betting Legalization Amplifies Emotional Cues & Intimate Partner Violence. Kyutaro Matsuzawa and Emily Arnesen examine the impact of legalized sports betting on intimate partner violence in the US. Analysing data from 2011 to 2022, they find that when a state legalizes sports betting, the effect of an NFL home team loss on intimate partner violence increases by 10 percentage points. The effect is largest around paydays.
