Gender Stereotypes About Career and Family Are Stronger in More Economically Developed Countries and Can Explain the Gender Equality Paradox. Clotilde Napp examines cross-national differences in implicit and explicit gender stereotypes about career and family. Analysing data from Project Implicit covering 111 countries, she finds that such stereotypes are more pronounced in economically developed countries.
Exposure to sugar rationing in the first 1000 days of life protected against chronic disease. Tadeja Gracner and colleagues examine the impact of restricted sugar intake in infancy on the risk of diabetes and hypertension in adulthood. Comparing individuals conceived just before and after the end of sugar rationing in the UK, they find that those conceived just before had a 35% lower risk of diabetes and a 20% lower risk of hypertension.
