The impact of philosophy education on intellectual traits. Michael Prinzing and Michael Vazquez examine whether studying philosophy fosters critical thinking. Analysing data on a large sample of students who graduated from US colleges between 2010 and 2019, they find that philosophy students show greater improvement in “habits of mind” from freshman to senior year, as compared to students in most other subjects.

Differences in misinformation sharing can lead to politically asymmetric sanctions. Mohsen Mosleh and colleagues examine whether Trump supporters share more misinformation on social media than Biden supporters. They find that Trump supporters share far more links to low-quality news sites, even when news site quality is determined by Republicans. They argue that this accounts for Trump supporters’ higher rates of suspensions.
